Were you at the Globe Cafe Christmas party last night? Happy memories were made as we enjoyed international food together. From traditional roast turkey to samosa.... what a feast! This was followed by an exciting visit from Santa. Sam then gave a short talk about the true meaning of Christmas, which was followed by hilarious singing and miming 'The Twelve days of Christmas' and a pantomime played by our talented students. We finished the evening with singing Christmas carols and songs. Happy Christmas to all you wonderful students, hope to see you at the CAROL SERVICE on Thursday 8th 6.30 at St Mary's. Globe Cafe team will welcome you at the door.😊

Chaplain resigns over Mince Pie furore Luton Chaplain Rev. Andrew Goodman posted a Facebook and Twitter poll to see what people would prefer at the university community Carols by Candlelight - traditional Mince Pies or Stollen Cake - on a promise to abide by the vote. Shock results came in this morning, as Stollen Cake became the people's choice. A stunned Rev. Goodman said: 'there's no accounting for it. Stollen Cake has come out as the winner by just over 50%.' Asked if BREXIT had impacted the vote, Revd. Goodman said, 'It's a puzzling, even unforeseen result, because the people have kicked out the traditional much loved British Mince Pie in favour of the German, in fact, EU Stollen - effectively trumping the Mince Pie. Asked how this would impact the Carols, Rev. Goodman said he had pushed for a vote, and now he would stand by it and resign. He indicated he would be willing to stay on to steer the Carols by Candlelight, but the vote would stand, meaning 50% of the refreshments would now be Stollen. Caterers Aramark's spokesman Manager Stephen Essam said, 'We will be providing the pies and stollen purely from a catering perspective. We will make no judgement as to which is the way to go, or what we like ourselves - this is how we will proceed. We're sorry to see Rev. Goodman go, but the people have voted.'
